Welcome to a celebration of people, light and the stories it reveals.

At Home With Sogie

Lights  & Candids.

[Still] In Progress.
[To be] edited, adjusted, and lived with.

We weren’t planning to shoot that day.
Sogie had her iPad in hand, showing me different photo scenarios.

We were talking about light, experimenting, imagining setups, and explaining how we thought certain things would work.
It wasn’t about making the perfect image. It was more about being in the room together, ideating, and trying to understand light a little better.

Somewhere in that back-and-forth I caught a few frames that stuck with me.

One in particular burst, completely unposed, completely expressive, felt like a snapshot of who she was in that moment, and maybe a little of who I was too.
It felt like a small capsule of what home was at the time.

At one point I considered doing something more polished with the images.
You know something more deliberate, But that started to feel a bit too commercial for what the moment actually was.
What made it interesting was the simplicity of it, two friends talking about photography and learning from each other.
Sometimes the best work doesn’t come from planning, It comes from noticing, from staying with a moment long enough to let it speak.

There was no clear end point to the session, just a natural pause.
The kind that makes you feel like the work is still happening, even after you’ve packed the camera away.
In truth, it didn’t end. We did in fact move on to something else shortly after, another thread I’ll return to in time.
